YOUR DSLR
WALA FRIEND
So, how
many of you have a friend who is known as the 'DSLR wala dost’?
Yes, I am
talking about that one friend who owns a DSLR camera and is responsible for all
our amazing profile photos.
I am
pretty sure you all can think of at least one person or if you are lucky like
me, more than one!
And just
in case you know the real struggle of getting that perfect frame, while
your best friend makes you click at least 100 different poses with over the top
drama.
Odds are,
you are that 'photographer friend'.
Even
though having a Photographer friend might seem like a privilege now, this
wasn't the case back then in India.
Just some
time ago, even till you were in school, you can recall a photographer as
someone not fancy.
He was
the person who took your passport size photographs in a shady looking studio.
And
who can forget the plain colored backgrounds, along
with our straight face, dead on emotions from those photographs?
EVERYTHING
CHANGES
Okay,
enough of nostalgia, the point I am trying to make is how and when did this situation
change?
The rise
of media and advertising industries, along with the expansion of the communication network in our country acted as a catalyst for the emergence of
photography.
The
fashion and entertainment industry were also growing rapidly, which ultimately
caused photography to establish its roots as a vocationally trained career
option in India.
The increasing need for young individuals who can create new designs, advertising
campaigns, and media products using photography skills for the masses,
lead to the formation of "Photographers WANTED" jobs.
Adding to
this demand, various educational institutions started offering Photography
courses in India.
